Thorfast
Properly called a pigeon box rather than a skylight. Might help if you do a Google search for builders.
WotEver
Why are you selling one almost identical, Col?

A lot of people will look at you strange when you say that but they all seem to know what a pigeon box is. Probably after what they used to release the pigeons for shooting years ago. A quality joiner should be able to follow them. (I did that and Streethay Wharf made ours)

bigcol
Hi Wotever, the reason why I selling one looking the same,is that my wife wants openers she wants to be able to lift the 2 sides open. the one that I had made 2/3 years ago, I was advised not to get openers,as why temp fate with rain with openers. so that's the reason why I've got a perfectly good skylight for sale. ive been told that pigeon boxes are really small, then bigger dog boxes. but this is 1800 x 900 which is know as a skylight. But hey if it's wrong then I be happy to call them dog boxes. I have to add, on my existing dog box of 1800 x 900, 2/3 window units have a little moisture in them, this was my fault by angling the jet wash when cleaning boat and directly pointing the lance at the bottom. the whole dog box is weather proof and water proof. there are no leaks at all 8 x double glazing units and mahogany faced good quality window frames, it does look very nice, and has no problems apart from non opening. be ideal for barge,Widebeam or a narrow boat lets in plenty of light makes the inside light and modern all the best col Edited April 16, 2017 by bigcol

That was sort of the point I was trying to make and agree with you, but if you say to a lot of people I have a dog box over the galley they will look at you sideways, if you get my drift. If you say I have a large pigeon box they know what you mean.

I think that design was published in Waterways World a few years back, I was going to use it but then went for continuous waterproof hinges and do away with the bit on the top that stops the water getting to the hinge

One huge difference between the one I'm making for Col and the one in the link above is that the protective bars on Col's are hinged, making cleaning of the glass very easy.
