Stern Tube Grease??

Hi All,

Sorry for asking this but does it have to be actual Stern Grease used in the greaser the reason i ask is i have in my garage a very large tub of car grease which i have had for years would this be ok to use in the stern grease tube? thanks in advance ;)

Yes i pondered the same the other year. I couldnt get my head around water soluble stern tube grease and played with the idea that copperslip or graphite based grease would likely keep the shaft and bearing in better condition. So for a tin of graphite grease i had in my garage, i mixed it, alternating topping up the greaser, with standard grease. Finally i just resorted to the time tested standard stuff for the job.
