St. Mary's Marina Rufford

Does anybody on here have any experience of this marina? It's at Rufford on the Rufford arm of the Leeds and Liverpool. It seems like a really lovely place but it would be nice to hear from anybody that has stayed there, or is there now. Thanks.

We live about 6 miles away from it. It is in a small kind of village. Quite a nice place.

The marina is nice enough and has a good cafe selling food, cakes teas, coffee etc.

Just across from it is fettlers wharf marina as well.

Trouble is they are both lock bound.

There used to be a waiting list for St Mary's whereas Hitler's....I mean Fettlers wharf had spaces.....

Having been stuck up there for 3 months when the rufford arm breeched I was glad I got a space in St Mary's. God alone knows how the owner of Fettlers has any customers...a most rude person.

Thanks for the responses. We have been considering St. Mary's for a while now and have heard that Fettler's can be 'difficult'. Just wondering if anybody can give us an opinion on what it's like to actually live at St. Mary's.

We lived there for the 3 months we were stuck & really liked it. The only slight faff was the electric cards...in our home marina we have meters built into the bollards and just get a bill every quarter. It was a bit annoying making sure you had enough credit on them before the closed day but that applies to a lot of marinas.

Found the other moorers helpful & welcoming as was the management. Having a station so close was really handy. It's a bit of a pain with no car for shopping but there is a good bus service to Burscough.

We did think about moving there full time for a bit. In fact if we hadn't got our unit near our marina we may well have done.

Hope that's helpful.
