Cloudinspector
I intend to make up a dedicated shoreline lead for generator use only in order to fix reverse polarity. Am I correct in thinking that I need to create a bond/link between earth and neutral in the plug which connects to the generator (Honda EU20i). The Honda has domestic 3 pin output sockets so I use a short adapter lead with a 3 pin plug on one end and a round blue shoreline connector on the other end. Does it matter which end of this adapter lead I convert?
GUMPY
No but it will be much easier in the blue connector
blackrose
Don't forget to label the cable "for generator use only". Assume your boat's mains system is earth bonded to the hull? Edited March 14, 2017 by blackrose

smileypete
Why not do both if you can for redundancy. I've seen transparent plugs 13A around which could help give a visual check that the N-E connection is OK: There's even ceeform sockets with a clear base too: https://www.essentialsupplies.co.uk/acatalog/Connector-240v-16A--Clear-Base--ES240_16C.html#SID=5 Edited March 18, 2017 by smileypete

Cant find any clear on ebay... any ideas?
WotEver
Plugs from Farnell: http://uk.farnell.com/walther/210306cl/plug-free-clear-230v-16a-ip44/dp/7232329 Sockets from Canford: http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/42-431_WALTHER-310306CL-Splashproof-16A-cable-socket-straight-clear Possibly loads more - that was a 5 minute Google. Don't search for 'ceeform'.
smileypete
Sorry for the late reply on this, haven't been on the forum in a while. CPC also do the clear 16A trailing socket, it's poorly titled and in a totally different section: http://cpc.farnell.com/walther/31036cl/3p-240v-bs4343-clear-coupler-blue/dp/CN06703 Looks like they still do free delivery for over £6 so find some random stuff or tat to pad the order out. One thing about a clear shell it should be easier to see if/where/how any water (or spideys??? ) are getting in. Also do avoid my usual trick of wiring the plug before putting the back shell on the cable - doh! Edited May 5, 2017 by smileypete
