The problem with using just a spacer is that Mike couldn't bolt it to steel. A standoff by comparison can be bolted both ends with no continuity between the two bolts.

I bought the shorter version from the supplier I listed on e-bay, with a couple of galvanized brackets. I am happy with the decision,and sure I couldn't make them cheaper or better myself.

To insulate the mounting of the bus bar segments of Rowntrees jelly would be ideal, nice and flexible and wobbly.  I think it comes in blocks of 6 segments, like bars of chocolate. Many different flavours and colours too which could match the colour of your roof. You just yank them apart individually and stick em on.
