Using USA 15A Plugs & Outlets For 12V DC

Can this be done?

Can they be used for 12V DC for the same current as marked for 125V AC?

They may not be the best design, although I've seen them up to 15amp, but 10amp seems to be the norm.

 

15amps is a fair bit of watts tho and portable devices that would use these sockets these are a lot less.

 

Bluesea seem to have a good addition as they twist in to make it water right if you use there plugs as well.

Mickey-Mouse US sockets are not much good even for Mickey-Mouse US electricity. Why would you possibly want to voluntarily use them for anything? Best for 12v outlets are Hella sockets and plugs.
