Polishicebreaker
I see that the recommendation for installing a stove is to use thick masterboard with an air gap behind. How thick does this stuff need to be to be rigid?
She25
I found this useful. Not a complete answer though... http://www.soliftec.com/Boat%20Stoves%201-page.pdf
Polishicebreaker
Thanks, I've looked at this before. They recommend 25mm board. I can only find 12mm stuff. It's pricey too
Dave Payne
Best price I found was eBay for sheets of 25mm board, 1000x600mm, about £30-£35. Bought three sheets for my fire. About £100 was fine I felt, knowing with the air gap I can sleep easy.
Chewbacka
This is the sort of stuff you require http://www.midlandchandlers.co.uk/store/product/hs-362.aspx
Jrtm
You could use 2 lots of 12mm or use 12mm and some 8mm concrete partical board behind or in front of it if you need something solid to paint or put tiles onto I found this useful. Not a complete answer though... http://www.soliftec.com/Boat%20Stoves%201-page.pdf I dont think i have actually ever seen a boat that has this full set up as illustrated. Jrtm
Ah not quite you dont have a plate under the stove ontop of the tiles. Nice design though
raymondh
Not needed as stove conforms to latest bs and it's granite on top of 25mm board as sold by midland chandlers and the frame has the required lip all round For info when the stove is in use I can hold my hand on the underside of the stove as it's fitted with a heat shield as standard We like the way it turned out looks kind of right Regards Ray
