I must say those were my thoughts too. All that swarf will rust as will the hole. I've bodged enough jobs in my time but I don't think even I would have done a job like that.

It's not my intention to make the OP feel bad about it but it has to be said, £115 for that..?   I wonder what it look like below the deck.

Well quite. I had a guy do a bit of welding in the engine bay once and after he'd finished he said "Oh, and I moved your greaser to make it more easily accessible while I was here."  It was a 5 minute job.
