Gear box leak

Anyone experienced loss of all gear box oil with no apparent leak. RCR called out & they couldn't find a leak. After topping up there has been no loss - the gearbox is PRM150D2. Now monitoring it every couple of hours - anyone have any solutions?

Had this with my father-in-laws MGB.

It had a tiny leak from the drain plug, which drained it over a period of several years. The only mileage he did was to and from the MoT Station every year.

Doubt this is the case with a boat unless it is hardly ever used.

Should the P.R.M have an oil cooler,it may have developed a pinhole

Have you looked in the Engine water filler cap for traces of oil?

Can't see how oil from a PRM 150 gearbox is going to affect the engine.

@OP PRMs favourite leaking point is the operating shaft on the left hand side. If it has been leaking there is frequently oil on the side of the case below the shaft.

If it has an oil cooler there will be two hydraulic type pipes out of the to left of the gear box going to the cooling radiator. Left side looking towards the bow of the boat. Could be worthwhile to check along the pipes and the radiator for signs of oil.

Of course that all begs the question when was the last time that the oil level was checked, today when the engine oil was check or like most months ago.
