Macclesfield Canal closed at bridge 49 on Tuesday

Apparently Bridge 49 (Fools Nook electric swing bridge) will be shut on Tuesday afternoon between 1pm and 5pm so that a cycle race can go over it.

 

Not sure why they can't use another route, we don't have an alternative. At least we know in advance which is something.

Lucky you that it is only the bridge that is closed. Around here they are closing the mountain road from Llanidloes to Machynlleth from 1430 to 1700, so the school buses can't get to a couple of the villages!

 

And the closure is caused by the County Council granting a TRO, not CaRT!

I received an email last week to say that one of the landing pontoons on the Rochdale 9 would occupied by a band during Gay Pride and thought exactly the same.

Cheshire East County Council are responsible for local closure NOT C&RT who must adhere to Traffic Regulation Orders. A few hours out of your life is not any great shakes.
