Welcome to the shiny boat club, it gets better as the paint starts the get knocked about! I find all this shiny paint too much of a responsibility to be honest.

Had Old Friends in for a lightning 3 days dry dock blast this week and am suffering(painting another boat 9-5)....

currently managing to carry on on comastic fumes...

Your are not there yet. I thought that to be a fully paid up member of the SBC you had to have several fenders down at all times.

When we had a 12th share of a boat we were the first owners to use it following a full re-paint job. I was a nervous as hell for the whole 2 weeks as I didn't want to be the first owner to put any scratches on it.

 

Now owning our own boat we will be needing a re-paint in the near future and it'll probably be as nervy, and it's one of the reasons we're not in too much of a hurry to have it done.

We were told once our boat had patina (I had to Google it at the time)

 

Very diplomatic but unfortunately patina doesn't sell a boat.

Just before our recent trip I cut back and polished the paint, to restore a shiny finish.

 

I realised just how shiny it was on the first night out, when our rescue GSD barked at his own reflection in the paint!

My boat is matt finished on the roof - for the last couple of years. The 'shiny' gloss is still in the tin.
