Exhaust stack bands

Anyone know how the brass bands are riveted to the stack, in particular, not having the internal access to whack the rivet? Is there a special long reach tool needed?

You don't need to have internal access. Just use a pop rivet gun.

e.g.

 

eta: you can get brass or copper pop rivets.

I just clamp a length of sturdy flat bar in the vice and use it as an anvil.

 

To be really posh, drill a dimple in the bar to hold the river head.

As George says I used a length of 1"25mm square bar with a drilled hole the size of the rivet head

Thanks, so no special tools other than a longer sturdy bar, preferably with a slight depression to help pein over the stem while whacking the head from the external side.

Sounds the wrong way round to me.

 

I always put the head inside and use a rivet snap on the outside. Doing it the other way risks the stem kinking over just under the head on the outside and making a messy looking and not very effective rivet.

Always used to put the head inside peen over on the outside & clean up to suit
