I'm not saying the 80's are History but i thought members may like to see pictures of the Boat lift taken in the early 80's..

I don't know how to take that comment, whether take it as a pop because it's not working times..

I see things are getting complicated

You pictures are lovely and show the canals in the 1970's and 1980's.

I remember the 1980's. How have I become so old that what I remember is now history? Surely it was only yesterday sad.png

Thank you It's ok, i don't get offended easily cheers.gif .. Hard to believe the 80's were a while ago..

Thanks for posting these. Have you got any more? Any chance you could name the locations? I recognised most of them but not sure on a couple.

I do have more somewhere, I know most of the locations i'll add to the pics, 1 or 2 not sure about..

Please do. If you are not sure about any, I'm sure someone here will know.

Judging by the bridge number this must be Aubrey's Lift Bridge at Thrupp on the Oxford, looking towards the Boat Inn.

That would match the linear mooring the other side of the bridge. The bridge is now electric

To confirm this is definitely Sutton Stop.

I keep looking at it and saying no, just because the perspective is wrong and I don't think there is a lock ladder on the far lock now.

I know it is.

Same here. The bridges look right, the change in level seems too great

Some googling needed

There is a lock ladder there now, but the railings are quite different.

I can't find a great picture, but this just about shows it....
