Bollinder 1113 or 1113/R

There is a cluster of boats with Bolinder 105x and 1113 engines on the GU in Hertfordshire.

As mentioned above, John Pattle is the best initial contact, but there are other knowledgeable people about.

Some new spares are available (mainly from Sweden) and various people have spare engines and odd bits.

Although the engine may appear somewhat over-powered for narrowboats, they do seem perfectly happy in use and look quite impressive. There is a picture of the one in France here

PS is the boat you are looking at at Bulbourne?

One thing about this series of engines is that the large Bolinder mechanical gearbox (used on the 3 & 4 cylinder models) is massively over-designed and always seems to be quite noisy - even with ones that have been fully rebuilt.

Some owners of 1113s have replaced the Bolinder box with a PRM 500 - a relatively straightforward task, and a design for a suitable adapter plate is available, if you know who to ask (not me)!
