I managed to get a little more done today. Besides trying to decide where to put the cabin heater I cut the seat lockers out to the best of my ability with a jigsaw.

As there are four lids the same I made a template for them.

I like these Boring bits for this job, but to get a better center hold at first ( aswell as i cnat see where the point is properly ) a small pilot hole does the trick.

As always when drilling with this type of drill bit go halfway through then the go through the other side. Saves busting out the other side and making a mess of a neat hole.

As the sides are curved I used a batten to help the jigsaw stay straight. I am not the best at free hand.

Oh yes here you can see I got a bit giddy again with the expanding foam.

Here is the cupboard and where the water heater will be going and cabin heater which is in the pic. A Propex HS2000.

I was going to fit the Propex in the bottom right of the cupboard but as there will be a cool bow/fridge there it will be a faff to do any maintenance, not just that but the exhaust and combustion pipes need to be a minimum of .75m long ( supplied in 1.2m lengths )

It will be dead space at the back right corner now as the Propex will be housed as in pic. The water heater if I still get the Morco F-11 ( considering the Propex Malaga, this will need to down low though due to the water stored in the unit ) is going in the top right and the rest of the cupboard will be storage.

I lie the Morco F-11 as it is room sealed and instant water and can have the flue horizontal so it can go to the side or forward through the sloping part of the cabin top.

I didnt manage to glue all the timber in place so thats the next job for this week after work.

I have decided to launch her before fully finishrd. Well re they ever. And do the fiddly bits as I go. Still need to do below water line repairs which I can't do until it is sods blasted. Still not collected it.

Canopy funds is the killer. Was not going to bother but I really  want one for it.

What a week it has been with one thing and another. I have been putting nits of money away every month towards a new canopy. Nit chap at all with the average being £1500 to have one made. So as this is a project and why break the habit of a life time hey.

I am going to have a go at making my own :)

To do this I need to move the boat horizontal along the drive so i have put the car in the pound along with the dinghy mould. A job in itself to move everything about.

Now I was going to get a Hiab in to lift it and drop it, but then i had thoughts why not just build a cradle for it and wheel it around......easy  The cradle/s can be reused later as the way i have made them i can cut one down on the width to use for the dinghy`s when i pop a few out and the other cut in half so then i van use it as trestleto hang the mould from when laying up. spit roast type cradle.

This one of the cradles i knocked up this weekend, the other is in the process of being welded up but i am goosed now so early night to chill out.

It is made from 50mm x 2.5mm box section, the castors are rated at 150kg each and each cradle has four fitted each corner.

tn_20170514_130915.jpg

For the chine supports i made them hinged so they can get a good level.

tn_20170514_130926.jpg

Then bolted on 18mm ply.

tn_20170514_133538.jpg

tn_20170514_133521.jpg

tn_20170514_133526.jpg

Done but for a quick splash of paint.

tn_20170514_144428.jpg

Ready to go under :) well one of them.

tn_20170514_151348.jpg

While i was jacking the boat up to get the cradel under the boat started to move forward a bit, i got a little worried so i strapped the boat to the workshop wheer some time ago i had bolted a tow hitch to it for some reason i cant remember now.

tn_20170514_160356.jpg

All good to go and we have the first cradle under.

tn_20170514_175643.jpg

tn_20170514_175911.jpg

For now i have sat the cradle on blocks so as not all the weight is say on the castors.

Besides that i have got the Propex HS2000 cab heater in situ and  the water heater is on its way, should be here tomorrow, i have after all the faffing gone with a Propex Malaga 5E which will sit above the HS2000.

Fitting the HS2000 vent

tn_20170507_141055.jpg

tn_20170507_141214.jpg

In the end i decided to fit it here, reason is the pipe work here needs to be minimum 750mm long and if i sat it further back they would of been to short. Not a big deal but for loss of a little storage space.

tn_20170507_145626.jpg

tn_20170507_145633.jpg

Vent is fitted but no sealed yet until all is good.

tn_20170507_145713.jpg

So that this weekends work done. :)

For those wondering why i need to move the boat out. Where it is sat at the minute i cant look around it and take pictures to help build/fit and design the canopy.

During this week the second cradle will be made so next weekend it will hopefully be ready to move. Oh and the two will be bolted together with the help of two lengths of box section to hold all tight. I was going to make one big one but then it would not of been easy to get it under the boat.

What a day it has been. With the brew lady going away for the weekend with the girls and me not feeling to well with getting dizzy and faint etc , mite be blood pressure all to cock i dont know, and funny do`s with the diabetes, prob doing to much, then the castors buckling under the boat.......sat down now for an early night to watch a film if i can work out how to turn the bloody telly on.

But for that it is all going good.

Not sure ifi have mentiond but i ma going to make the canvas canopy myself......oh yes i must of as the reason i mentioned that i had started to make the cradles to move the boat.

I come by a Reads Sailmaker sewing machine for the job and that will be here next week, that was a task in itself to pay for it as it is comng from down south and i thick when it coms to banks and online lark, i managed to block our online bank account so this morning i shot down to the bank to transfer money for it. The bank clerk started to try to help me with the mess i made. OMG i didnt have a clue so i said T will sort it when she gets home...yes another mess up lol.

So the boat is mow moved[IMG]

t took some faffing aswell. I finished the second cradle during the week after work and today i braced it up to keep the both together.

As i was let down again by so called mates i got my old faithful block and tackles to pull the boat around. Infact it was a lot better than man handling it around. Nice smooth and steady.

First strap to a brick pillar

It was going slightly out on line so then i strapped the the car wheel to bring it more level.

But it still needed to be held back a bit so i strapped the transom to the workshop......the hitch came in handy again[IMG]

Near there

I had to use the gate post to pull it back a bit so i have room around the bow but after an hour or so faffing with it as the castors are crap cheap stuff and two buckled and one shredded its rubber ( well i got sick of jacking and turning the castors and this was its last turn ) I had to keep jacking the corners up to turn the castors in the right direction to help them.

I tied some 4x2 timber under the cradles incase the castors fully give way then there would only be 10mm to fall.

I jacked it all up and sat the cradles on blocks so it sits solid.

So sat in its new spot so i can measure up etc for the canopy. Looking forward to making it really. good to learn a new thing

I have been busy today with this and that. I gave the rear bilges another few coats of primer/paint so now 3 coats in all so plenty there.

I used Jotun Vinyguard Silvergrey 88.

tn_20170528_173626.jpg?4

Now then when i remade the transom and stern area i didnt think enough of where the canopy will fix to so as i sat chilling for a moments break i thought on and decided to do this.

tn_20170528_151342.jpg

No big deal of a job and near done now. I used a sheet of GRP i made ages ago to bond in and fill.

Once i had tapered back the edges i scraped off the CSM from some of the Combo matt and then fill out more with combo as i have rum out of CSM sheet.

 tn_20170528_153850.jpg

tn_20170528_170427.jpg

tn_20170528_171450.jpg

I still need to do the edges tomorrow the same way to get a good solid bond.

tn_20170528_173400.jpg

Looks rough but it will be fine once finished ;)

Another small job was the Malaga 5 water heater which has been put in situ. Only small problem here is that the vent sits 170mm from the opening window and it should be 300mm in the fitting instructions. This window will not be used now and screwed shut for safety.

tn_20170528_142917.jpg

Now that i have finished out side i took sime good side on and rear pics so i can have a go at putting together some ideas for the canopy.

What i am tempted to do is to extend the GRP top by around 150mm/6inch to give more cover for the captain and also fit a in a set of lights to light up the rear deck area.

Not a massive job but will need doing before i do the canopy.

May I suggest that instead of just extending the rear edge of the top, you cut off the last 8" or so and move it back by 6" and then fill in the resulting gap? You won't have to remake the more complicated rear edge.  Apologies if you intended to do this anyway.

It was the plan but i have decided not to extend the canopy now. I jut keep making more unnecessary  work for myself.

Got enough to do and this boat will never get afloat again if i keep faffing about

I am still going to fit some eyeball down lights under the canopy though.

Hi Steve, hows things, good i hope ;)

Yes still at it, never gong to stop until this is done.

Bit frustrated with the weather again stopping me from getting some painting done and external work on the hull below water line. I have my blast pot ready, well a bit of PTFE needed as i ran out but will be trying it out this weekend.

With the great British summer time there has not been as much done as I hoped, Oh and also shopping sleeping.png

After some time waiting for the Blast tanks to arrive I spent the most of a day messing about trying to get them set up and cut in/outs correct.

All running fine but for the tips that are a little big so as soon as i can I will be getting a new set.

I have a few massive tarps for the job aswell, need to get myself some proper PPE yet also.

As it has been not the best weather for painting and resin work I decided to modify the Bow roller I got. The reason for the modification is that I want the roller set higher as to increase angle down the the cleat in the locker.

If I find the roller needs the side higher again while in use i will sort that when needs be.

And the bolt holes were small for my bolts so a drill out to 8mm and chamfered to suit.

This is as far as i have got with it as it was done inbetween the rainy spells.

While the weather was fine i got the gas locker painted at last, but that was it. I was lucky wiht that as it started to rain not long after.

Parts needed.

Not going to bother showing the useless pipe bender i got from Machine Mart, it lasted all of about six bends now it makes flat spots. Get what you pay for as always.

This meant I could amend the mess up I did the other day when I drilled the holes for the gas line to low. Easy fix by drilling out a new disc and stuck in the hole with epoxy.

I made a bulkhead plate to make it easy to pipe it all up

tn_20170611_174939.jpg

Each appliance has its own feed, reason is so if one appliance goes faulty then I can shut of the faulty one and keep the other going.

The water heater and cab heater lines will be gong along the rib and down behind the water filler pipe under the floor and across the top of the bulkhead to the Port side. Out of the way but still accessible as there will straight pipe connectors fitted in the middle of the run. Least connectors the better so a new better pipe bender is needed now.

Afraid that is about it. Not much dome but all helps :)

That box I started to make I got it finished yesterday and today after work as it has been nice.

It is for the Teleflex Morse control.

I couldnt think where to fit it so this was the spot i decided on in the end.

A bit of a cit into the side so the forward throttle can be pushed forward with no interference on the bulkhead or dash.

Laminated inplace before skimming over to make good, well better. I think it needs a bit more now there is primer on it, as always that it what a coat of paint does.

Well the weather has been good but maybe it has been too good for painting 26 - 28 degrees probably means the paint flashes off far too quickly.

You can say that again, it sods law isnt it. I wait for a nice warm calm day and what happens, we get it but too darn hot. Well two days of it. Today was a bit of a shame on the boat fettling front as i had to go to a BBQ :(:) good or bad i dont know as i was dragged from the boat but i did manage to get the second coat of paint on bulkhead while it was cool doors.early. And the BBQ wasnt o bad, not burnt for a change lol. And plenty of Cider going :)

So i got the bulkhead painted and chuffed with it...ish. You know never happy with things.

The rear lockers and anchor locker is all painted as that was in the shade lol.

Whilst i got as high as a kite while lying under the rear deck painting that lol.

So a bit more done :)
