Calorifier expansion vessel puzzle

I'm trying to check the pressure in my EV. I have a hand pump and digital tyre gauge - can't get either to work! The gauge (new) remains blank, the pump refuses to pump. And when I press the valve stem on the EV valve I hear no air coming out.

What's going on? Am I doing it wrong? I've tried doing it with tap dribbling and off - no difference.

I'll assume its a normal Schraeder valve, if you are pressing the inner bit and no air is coming out, then it explains why you're unable to make a pressure reading or pump any air into it. Press a bit harder/further in. Its entirely possible its jammed (I'd have said unlikely though). If so, then you can unscrew the old (the air will come out then!) and screw in a replacement.

I've just had the same problem, the valve was stuck, after a bit of messing about I've managed release the valve and get some air in and finally get a reading

Turn the water pump off, then open the tap fully, pump up with cycle/foot pump to desired pressure.

Just tried - no difference I'm afraid. I guess I will have to take the valve out though it certainly doesn't appear to be stuck.

Sorted! New valve, pump off, opened all taps and up she pumped.
