johnmck
There is the potential for severe weather over much of the UK during Sunday as a complex depression tracks over the UK. There continues to be a great deal of uncertainty in the forecast but the public should be aware of the risk of flooding due to heavy rain as well as strong winds and large waves, particularly on the coasts of southern England and areas bordering the northern Irish Sea. Given the unseasonable nature of the weather this could be sufficient to disrupt transport and make outdoor activities dangerous. Here in Chester it is hammering down. As we are moored outside a pub, we are staying put for the day. What are your plans?
twbm
Off for the Sunday am ritual - deep clean our bar and re-polish the floor. Hoping the rain has rinsed the patio off.

Alan de Enfield
Saw the forecast yesterday,so dived into the marina @Gt Heywood, chance to do the washing. Just a tip - if you take your clothes off and use a launderette it works out a lot more convenient - (unless you need a wash as well)

At least we get to park close to the shops now that we can use 'Parent & Child' spaces so might not get too wet.

Great Yanks weekend here. I wonder how many will light their stoves or give the central heating a whirl and stay put today.

KJT
Grey and light rain here in the SE. Seems we will miss the bad stuff but still chilly enough to have the stove lit Same here on the River Wey. Following the warnings from the 'prophets of doom' we found a nice spot to moor up last night and wait out the predicted downpour. About 11pm the boat took on a pronounced list and we were well and truly grounded. Nice clear evening, no rain. I guess the powers that be reduced the water level in anticipation of flooding. Light rain started about 8am and has been on and off all morning. Another Met Office storm in a teacup by the look of it! Ken

Pedant Alert:closedeyes: Of course it's allowed, besides I look young enough to pass for her father (From a distance in a darkened room that is) - anyway the 'Parents' are coming too. john6767
Just south of Banbury, plan was to stay put today given the warning, but the torrential rain lasted perhaps 3 hours earlier this morning. The rain has now stopped and the sky has brightened a bit. I think we will probably move a bit this afternoon, and there are plenty of boats moving now. Mac of Cygnet
Arrived in Ely at 7.30 AM yesterday morning and decided to stay (the earliest I've ever stopped for the day!) after hearing the weather forecast. But it's bright and breezy now - is this all we're going to get?

It might be worthwhile keeping an eye on this website I think - http://riverweyconditionsnt.wordpress.com - stoppages are pinned to the top and more tactical issues are slightly further down but they do keep it up-to-date. In fact I see Bowers Lock to Worsfold Gates is in flood as of 5 mins ago!
Naughty Cal
We were moored in Saxilby last night. Got in a BBQ before the weather hit. Got up reasonably early this morning and got back to the marina before the rain started. Been raining heavily here since about 10am. It has just started to brighten up a bit though. So maybe the worst has passed, or is that wishful thinking?
