ditchcrawler
I wouldn't leave my boat for a week unattended on those. I would use a set of chains
lameduck
As of today, 16th January 2014, the Planning Application No. 13/4286N for a 2.37 hectare 200 berth Marina basin on land to the north of Cholmondeley Road, Wrenbury Frith has been withdrawn. There is a letter confirming this on the Cheshire East Planning website. I have been informed by the Planning Officer dealing with the other application for a Marina on land to the west of Wrenbury Heath Bridge (Application no. 13/4049N) that no date has been set for the Stategic Planning Board to consider this matter - it should be sometime in the next few months. It's the Cottons versus the Starkeys all over again !
MtB
You don't get about much do you? If you did, you'd have noticed CRT's policy of installing new piling without the horizontal rail which those 'nappy pins' fit behind. Hence the need for boaters to start carry welding kit! MtB What is there to hold the piling in place? (speaking as one who had to replace the wooden rails on his piling when it rotted so the studs pulled through it and all the piling migrated towards the canal)

MtB I do get about much, but in a different area of the country to you. I've not boated past recently-worked-on, or newly-installed, piling recently though. Possibly what you saw was partly installed piling? Who knows? (Do you have a picture?)
