Ratzend
One of them is I bought one from a travelling Indian gentleman back in the 60's, quite a rarity in the area where we lived. I seem to remember that he used the two small blades crossed over somehow and honed the big blade with them. Incredible character
ditchcrawler
I went to a garden centre and bought a long handled patio cleaner that has a hooked stainless steel blade, sharpened on the inner edge. I does the job for me ok. Regards Pete I have used a short one for years, being short I can even get to the front of the prop. All via the weed hatch of course, not from the bank under the counter. You do need to put your pinkies in the dirty water of course.
johnmck
Hmmm I had a look at one of these things in Wharf House Chandlery at Braunston. Nice idea but apallingly badly excecuted. Made from plain mild steel and 'sharp' is the last word I'd use to describe the blade edge. Had the blade seemed sharp enought to cut something, I'd have bought one, but it wasn't (in my opinion). If it was made in stainless steel, I would buy one tomorrow.

Daiboy
Maybe slightly off topic .... but ... I recently had a rope around my prop which left me drifting down the Thames. I must admit that I did panic a while and give the engine a burst of forward and reverse (a good deal of burst) before I realised it was to no avail. Anyway. after being rescued by a great couple in a "plastic" boat, boy did he know how to handle a craft, I noticed a fair bit of oil in the bilge that I'm sure wasn't there before. Could I have damaged something. The gear box oil level seems ok but the engine oil level was a bit low.
