well time for another update.

lots has happened lately.

1) the gearbox and engine mounts have been repaired (excellent work by primrose engineering)

engine now much more quiet and massively less vibration.

2) battery bank wired in to isolator. 4x110ah lead/acid.

3) solar panel installed. 1 235w panel with 20a tracer MPPT with remote panel (which i become obsessed with the readings on.)

4) installed 2 sets of bulkheads to seperate out the rooms (one more needed.)

5) installed some led lighting inside. more to come when i finalise the wiring.

6) installled a 1600w psw sterling inverter, total cable run 2m on 50mm cable.

7)connected 240v fridge bought from a forum member and got that working.

enjoyed the boat in the sunshine.

You really have stuck with the job, Lex. I applaud both your skill and your patience.

If I may wander off topic, though it is related: there was a chap on here who was having a very traditional boat built and doing much of the work himself. He used to report to the forum more or less weekly, with photos and very readable descriptions of his progress or, sometimes, lack of same. I recall he had a beard (doesn't narrow it down much on here, I know) but can't remember his name; Steve perhaps? Anyway, I haven't seen anything from him for some months - is that because he's finished the boat?

I think you are recalling Steve Goddard's blog of the build of Siskin.

The forum thread is at http://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=32957 and his blog is at http://nbsiskin.co.uk/

He hasn't been online here since July 2014, and neither has his blog been updated since then.

Thank you, David. So are Steve and Siskin out on the water now or is he still building her?

I've sent him a message requesting news of Siskin's progress, so we'll see what happens. The boat is apparently in the Brinklow area.
