A couple of weeks ago Battersea made the trip up the Llangollen Canal (I live alongside Bridge 43, Platt Lane).

 

Very few ex-working boats make the effort, probably due to the beam issue at Hurleston locks and also the reduced draught available towards Llangollen.

I saw her at Stafford a couple of years ago and the internal workmanship looked to be A1 with great care and attention.

Spoke to the (ex)owner 2 hours ago as she approached Whaley Bridge. Battersea has now been sold.

It'll be interesting to see if N/B "George" makes it through Hurleston in a short while (saw them last week on their way up there)

We met Battersea just passed the big turn on the Buggy Arm this afternoon. Great to see another "Big" boat helping keep the channel clear.

They've just passed us again at Fools Nook on the Macc (Br 49) heading towards Bosley Locks.

George made it through Hurleston as they went under Bridge 43 last week.
