dor
Hi Tullz If you want to tackle the staircase, then the Basin by the Telford Warehouse is ok - I've never had a problem there. If you don't fancy the staircase, I've also moored without problems just past the Cow Lane Bridge. You are right in the middle of Chester, and you can moor opposite the old people's home. The stretch before the bridge can be pretty noisy at night as there are several pubs and clubs along there. No end of take aways and a large supermarket. There is a bar / resturant next to the bridge but we have never had any trouble from it. Be careful if you wind there - its very shallow. journeyperson
When I've been to Chester I've moored at Christleton (Cheshire Cat) before the winding hole and it's a 10 minute bus ride to the centre. Christleton is a nice village too.
Hairy-Neil
Personally I'd head for the basin at the botton of Northgate Staircase. Telford's Warehouse had excellent choice of real ales too when I was there in august. Mill Hotel is also not to be missed if you enjoy a good pint. Laurie Booth
This year we moored just before the winding hole, spent 2 days there with no problems.
