Just found out that the reason my boat registration has been delayed by 3 months is because, the link provided on the online forms was incorrect. So if you are trying to email in your boat registration to the Environment Agency, click the website link or type it in by hand. Do not click the link inside their PDF forms. It might be a typo, autocorrect or using a strange font, but it does not go through, and also does not give a failed attempt response either. I could have found out earlier if they had not lied and said "yes we have it here, and will process it" when I first called them. Also if they did not use ambiguous characters or symbols in their email addresses, as who here can tell the difference between these to email addresses? (There is one, and it's super hard to detect it!) A short dash "boatreg@environment‐agency.gov.uk" and a full dash "boatreg@environment-agency.gov.uk". Yep, most email clients, web pages etc all show them as identical. But copy/paste into notepad and they are very different. I have emailed them to ask them to correct it, but no idea if they will.

Hi. NBs seem to carry either a 'registered at' (eg. Watford) signifier, with a registration number, and this is more often than not, it seems to me, painted on the upper superstructure near the stern, and/or a 'home name' under or near the boat name, (eg. 'Rambling Rose', Watford), which could be anywhere, and in several places, too. Could someone please explain the differences and the rules? Woxbrigge nb (saving hard!)

Ok Sorry in advance this is a bit trainspotterish but it has been bugging me in a sad git sort of way so I thought I would ask . how do boat regsitration numbers work and is their any link to a boats age ? I ask as I read on here that a boat with a 5 digit number in the 47000's was about right for a 1990 age but our last boat was 1972 and was registered in the 62000's and my in laws boat is 1980 and is regsitered in the 65000,s My boat is 2008 and has a 6 digit code starting 5 ( like many newer boats ) and is 517xxx , the newest boats seem to be 523XXX , When did 6 digit codes start and when did ones beginning 5 start and is there any relation to numbers and age ? or are they just sequential and how do the old 5 digit codes work age wise as they seem all over the place . As said I clearly have to much thinking time and its a bit sad but its bugging me

Can anyone help? I've recently registered on the site but seem to be having some problems. Every time I log in the site doesn't recognise my password and I have to reset it. Even though I reset it to the original password, it still doesn't recognise it next time I log in. Also I can't log into the chat facility. It says may group doesn't have access, but I'm not in a group. Well as far as I know I'm not. I've sent 3 or 4 messages to the organisers, via the site message facility, and have had no reply. Is there a tech problem with the site or something, can anyone help? Cheers Giggs
