Hello, My narrow boat has the stove flue feed through the sidewall. It draws fine. Has anyone else heard or had this design? I've only seen them on wide beams. -
Hi all, I was hoping somebody could answer my question regarding flue pipe. I 've had a search on google to find an answer to this question but have not seen anything specific enough to put my mind at rest. I am in the process of finalising a boat that I bought at the start of summer, I have built a hearth and fireproof tiled backpanel to safety spec to ensure I won't go up in flames, however I fear I may have been hasty in buying the flue pipe for the inside of the boat. The pipe I have purchased is vitreous single skinned enameled pipe (to the correct 4inch diameter for my acorn stove) but it is incredibly thin compared to other flue pipes i have seen. I know it is important to fit a double skinned chimney but wondered if the vitreous pipe is fine for the internal cabin (I know this may or may not technically pass the safety for a new installation but my main concern is will it be safe? I have noticed that some of the joints also have two holes drilled in and wondered apart from using fire cement whether there are any joint pieces that I may need to fit? I do want to try and make this installation as safe as possible but as you can see still have the odd concern, any help will be much appreciated, thanks, Pete :-)

I'm looking to replace my stove, and have found one with the perfect heat output to room / boiler, but it has a 6" flue outlet. (We're heating a 63'x 12' widebeam with 3 radiators)Currently we have a 5" collar through the roof. Can I use a reducer between the stove and flue? There don't seem to be many chandlers offering collars with a 6" internal dimension, is there a reason for this? thanks.

Above the throat plate, at the bottom of the flue, inside my Morso Squirrel, I have a rounded cup bolted to the roof of the stove. This seems to restrict the removal of smoke which often comes back into the room in abundance when adding fuel. The flue is clean. Some of these fires seem to have the cup fitted whilst others don't. Presumably it's there for a reason... should it aid draw? Would it help the smoke-in-the-room issue if I removed it? I normally burn 'smokeless' fuel (which plainly isn't!).

Hi, another rookie question!!! I have a wood burner (so I'm told) which has cracks all around the collar where it joins the top of the stove. Also, last winter it started leaking rain in through the top of the flue pipe somewhere. So, I've just got round to sorting things out for this winter. How do I remove the flue pipe from the collar on the top of the stove, should it 'simply' pull up all be it with a bit of gentle persuasion? At the moment it's not budging.

Dear Friends, I am planning on replacing my existing stove with a stove from the Chilli Penguin range. The Flue collar on the stove itself is 5". All of the Chandlers I have spoken with only sell 4" or 4.5" flue pipe for inside the cabin. I have two questions really: a) Anyone got experience / opinions about using a 5" > 4.5" adapter and using a 4.5" flue pipe b ) Twin Wall is recommended by BSS 8511 but I think its overkill So Chilli Penguin offer a kit, for a very top price of £793!!! I think by using single wall can get the price down to £220. Speaking to experienced boat chandlers the opinion seems to be that BSS 8511 is really 'recommendations' only when it comes to single / twin wall flues and their relative distances to combustible surfaces. Been using Single wall 5" for two years without any issues. Only reason I cant now use 5" again for the new stove, is that the roof collars don't accept 5" flues (or at least I haven't managed to find any). Just spoken to a boat safety person (who issue the certificates). Frankly shocking how little they seem to know about BSS 8511 or even really any clear advise about how a stove flue / chimney should be constructed. Any advise would be really appreciated, read so many forums, spoken to so many people and reading BSS 8511 and not getting much clarity. many Thanks Stuart

Hello all, anyone used a vitreous flue pipe? Seems to be a commonly used material in houses and is half the price (and weight) of a steel flue. I can't think of any reason it would be unsafe ~ can anyone else? Suggestions and advice please. Thanks

The oval cast iron collar that joins our back cabin stove to the flue pipe has broken, does anyone know where I can buy a new or second hand one please?

I need to replace the flue on my multi fuel burner, sadly I don't know what make it is but it has a 4 inch flue that appears to be single walled and is 1.3 metres to the ceiling. All the flue pipes I have found on line seem to be a max of 1 metre long - does anyone know of a supplier of longer pipes (and not for the price of gold!) I'm probably going to have to replace the roof fitting which has been there since the late eighties and is going to be a b*st*rd to remove - any hints and tips?
