My Isuzu 42 will need a service soon (250 hrs) so oil and fuel filters are required. Apparently they are the same for the 25, 35 and 55 hp models, so does anyone with one of these engines know a good a source? OEM parts are expensive so I'm hoping there are decent alternatives available. I have done a search without much success (the posts I have found are confusing for a mere numpty), and I don't want to end up with parts that either won't fit or are sub-standard. The OEM part references are 894456-7412 (oil filter) and 897172-5491 (fuel filter). The air filter is 100066-4LS although I don't need one for this service. Any websites or suppliers in the East Midlands (Ashby or Tamworth area) would be appreciated. -
Has anyone changed the filter on a Vetus vacu flush toilet. .? I have bought at a gamble , the innards of the filter, three circular , I presume charcoal , filter innards.£26. I see on line there is only two types large and small, so I bought the larger. i haven't even looked at what I am about to do, as previous owner told me it's a smelly job, and should be done once a year,I haven't touched it for two years, but it is getting smelly after a week, so should be done. can anyone give me any tips or advice before I start having a look, it's at back of wardrobe, where I have to unscrew panels to get at it. I would rather do it in one go, rather than look and replace etc. I am not great at diy but will have a go. i bought the innards, should I have bought a new filter instead? is there any tips to make the job easier is there any tools I require apart from a screwdriver. do I need to turn anything off electrically? any precautions I should do apart from wearing gloves? fellah at boat yard told me to unscrew the fitting on out side as well and give that a wash, is that all I need to do? Thanks for any advice.

I wonder if anyone could kindly tell me a good procedure for changing my fuel filters? I've had a good old google, watched a few vids but didn't find anything specific to my engine and the manual is not too detailed. As I understand it so far - there is a primary and secondary? I've only been supplied with one filter from when I asked for "everything" at a chandlers. I'm concerned about getting air in the system and not being able to restart - as I have no other means for hot water/electric it would be pretty inconvenient. Sorry if its a dumb question - I've mastered the oils/air and so on -

Hi Any recommendations on service parts for the Cananline engines? I have a 52 I should service soon. Looking for oil and air filters, mostly. The "original" Canaline parts are a bit expensive and I've seen a few on ebay but not sure... Any tried and tested sellers/links? Thanks

I'm no expert on diesel installations (my previous boat was home built with a petrol engine modded to run on paraffin!) but now I've got one I'm trying to understand it. I believe the normal fuel line set up has a return from the common rail or high-pressure pump back to the filter and then to the tank, the reasoning being that the fuel injectors react more quickly than a pump can so it's better to have excess pump capacity and return the excess fuel than to have the pressure drop when the injectors want more. My boat doesn't have any of that, just a single fuel line via the filter to the pump. I guess that because it's an old engine (Perkins 100 series) without any fancy ECU set up the injectors just squirt what the pump sends. Could also be that it was originally a petrol engined cruiser and the diesel was fitted by a cowboy, so I'd like your opinions. Is it OK as it is?

Hi I have recently taken ownership of a narrowboat with a jabsco water filter fitted. I am not sure how old the cartridge is or was. This morning the cartridge broke sending a flood of water everywhere. Luckily I had a spare and fitted it. However I found that the little blue clips that hold the main pipework in came out fairly easily. I have pushed them back in and turned water back on and the unit holds but I am now concerned to go out leaving the water on Is it good practice to turn the water off when leaving the boat to go to work? Are these reliable units or would I be better to take the filter out altogether Any thoughts apprecaited Thanks
