I have just taken my boat into a marina to have a bearing fitted on the prop. They phoned me today saying the bearing have gone in my gearbox and the engine mounts had broken off at the wield. I went to have a look the engine mounts were made of wood and the bearings in the box were ok they had just lined it up wrong. the reason i am telling you this is because if a marina that you trust tell you this you put your hand in your pocket. And they can be wrong. just so you all know i am dyslexic thank you Adam -
Hello! I'm currently researching a project collecting oral histories from people who worked, lived or know about Harland and Woolfs Woolwich site. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything of any interest or could help at all? All the information I can find is very vague and mainly focus' on Belfast. Hi. I've recently started a new blog on wordpress.com and have had great success with it. I've had around 200 views in the first few days of the blog, but am now struggling for material to write about. Folks (and Folkies!) The short version - I'm almost certainly going to the Festival de Loire this year in Orleans, it's 18th-22nd September in Orleans. The Songbird is keen on coming with me, which is a delight, but before Sara commits, Sara is not as interested in boats and waterways as I am, but is very interested in music and live music, at almost any level from buskers to stadium concerts (a passion I also share). I'd love Sara to come but not on a false premise. The festival itself is about waterways and boats, but I'm assuming that at a festival this size, and in a town like Orleans, some live music won't be hard to come by, but does anyone know? Has anyone been? Now, the slightly longer version, we're organising a riverside music festival in Chateau Gontier for summer 2020 and aiming to meet the French contingent (whom we already know through Twinning, CG is Frome's twin town - they have had Sara headline charity concerts in CG) and whilst it's a three hour drive to CG from Orleans, ya know, it's just a good excuse...

Hi. I'm doing some research for a book, a thriller. The plot involves a family traveling from Llangollen to Sharpness near Bristol via the canals and finally a small section of the River Severn to the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal to Sharpness . They are doing it in a 30 foot river boat type (birchwood 33 gt) Can anyone confirm that this rout would have been possible in the late 1990's between 1995 and 2000. The rout they want to take is: Llangollen to Hurleston Locks Shropshire Union Canal to Autherly Junction stop Lock Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal to Stourport-on-Severn River Severn to Gloucester Gloucester and Sharpness Canal to Sharpness The places I am concerned about are through Worcester and Gloucester. It seems to be possible now from what I can see here: (https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/canal-and-river-network) But would it have been possible in 1995? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hiya, I'm new to the forum and I'm struggling to find a new pace to put my boat on the Thames. Now Lion has gone it would seem that Eel Pie is just packed out. I'm having trouble finding anywhere to move my boat to. I need to work on it and I want it to be safe. I wondered if there is a good place on the Thames where I could moor on a temporary basis but also be in a bit of a community of fellow boaters so we could watch out for each other a bit. Does anyone know of such places or somewhere I could moor the boat cheapy while I fix it up? Freya
