Bit of a weird one this... I've got an Alde Compact 3010 central heating system and everything was fine until a few days ago. Suddenly the 240V icon isn't showing on the panel, so it's running off 12v and not heating. Eventually, I managed to find the power for the 3010 unit and power it off and on. Voila! The 240v icon reappeared and I thought all was good. Nope. Tried the central heating and initially it worked fine and I could feel the radiators heating up. After a while the 240v icon went out and the central heating radiators of course went cold. Ah, I'll just power it off an on again. Nope. No 240v icon this time. Checked the two fuses in the top panel of the unit and they're fine. Even unplugged and plugged the panel just to reboot it. Still no 240v icon. Any ideas for what else I could check? The unit is definitely getting 240v. Checked the cable with a non-contact meter and it's definitely live.

Hello everyone, I've bought a 47ft Narrowboat and will be starting to live aboard very shortly. One of the things on the (ever growing!) list that I want to take a look at is the water heating. The boat is relatively young in years (2007) and hot water is coming from a calorifer fed from and heated by the boat engine. This has been working great whilst cruising however on a long term basis, when I'm moored up for a week or two at a time I don't want to keep starting the engine every day just to get a shower in and wash the dishes... I'm not going to have shore power available and having had a look and the option which keeps coming up are gas water heaters (Alde, Morco etc) However I was of the understanding that these could now not be installed under the new guidelines set out in the boat safety certificate? My certificate is due in on October, so I want to look in to an option that'll pass through no prob's... guess theres always a kettle and a bowl! Any advice would be greatly appreciated - and thanks for all the comments and posts on the forum to date, they've been so useful! Cheers, Andy

Can anyone help with recommending a good ALDE boiler service engineer, our slimline boiler (don't know the model number) has not been done for a while. We are on the Macclesfield canal. Any idea of what price we should be paying. Thanks in advance. Paul

Can anyone help? I have an old Alde comfort gas boiler which heats the water in my calorifier & 4 radiators onboard. I have recently removed 2 of the radiators & capped them off. There don't seem to be any leaks in the system and I have re-filled the header tank with 50/50 anti-freeze/de-ionised water. But when I have switched the boiler back on there is no hot water! I've opened the valves on the radiators to bleed them with the Alde off and on several times and water comes out but it's not heating up!?! I have tried isolating the radiators and firing up the boiler - the water in the header tank gets hot and the pipe leading to the calorifier gets warm but not hot (I've tried leaving it on for several hours but it still doesn't heat the water in the calorifier) What am I missing here?

Hi, so I've had solid fuel stoves on my previous boats but have just bought a new 2nd hand boat that only has radiators attached to an Alde comfort gas boiler. I've never used one before. Alde have all the instruction manuals available on their website but I'm not sure if I can safely just fire her up or if I need to check the water levels in the system before I do that. Will it all explode if there's not enough water? Should I drain all the water from the radiators and refill them (on the radiators themselves or through the Alde boiler) before starting? I don't want to damage anything. Help! Thank you

Anyone have this same Alde central heating unit? I'm having trouble getting it to switch on overnight. I've set the day and time and ideal temp (23C). I go into the Auto night mode and set it to ON, the lowest temp as 17C, the start as 1800 and off at 0900 for all days. Damn thing never seems to come on. If I set it OFF on the main screen, it never comes on. If I set it ON in the main screen it's always on and never goes off. I'm bamboozled!
