  1. Tim Thanks so much for this, I was assuming the update emails would appear at the same time as the update on the crt stages website. Thanks once again. Mick
  2. Hi Tim It's so frustrating that crt have not published an update, is it just because its the weekend? We have just walked back to ramney marsh lock to find no vegetation blocking the lock another non update by crt. Looks like we will carry on to Regent's Canal but still would good to get a crt update. Many thanks for your information. Mick
  3. Thanks David yes that was the one that worried me on the Regent's, the update says there are structural problems with the bridge causing objects to fall in the canal and so canal closed until Engineers inspection and any resulting works completed so doesn't sound to me an early reopening is likely. Mick
  4. Long time since I posted as Zodiak which we sold in 2017. Am at Ponders End on the River Lee. Crt say Tottenham lock open only 10 to 12am but locals say not necessarily so? Also we seemed stymied by Regent's Canal stoppage between locks 3 and 4 and behind us tree not cleared at Ramney Marsh yet. Any info on any of the above would be welcomed. Mick
  5. This happened to our conservatory roof in the hot summer of 2016 while we were away on our narrowboat Zodiak. Fortunately the outer glass remained intact. The repairer said the cause was most likely a weakness/stress point arising during the manufacture of the glass and that it was a rare occurrence. We sold Zodiak in 2017 and do miss her. Mick

  7. I use Tony's method except instead of laying the hose down I keep it high and extract the 26 litres or so using a Pela suction pump transferring th used antifreeze into 5 litre containers Ml
  8. Perhaps the Vlocky, having instructed his colleague to open the bottom gate paddles, then himself opened the top paddles to flush water through (thinking he would flush the obstruction) so causing the dangerous flow? Or was the middle gate which had jammed only only partially open so a head of water built up causing an increasingly fast flow through the narrowed gap? All very scary! Mick
  9. As a retired chartered civil engineer l should have known better! I was going to put "technician" and for some reason I did not think of electrician. Mick
  10. Slightly off topic at Crick 2015 we spoke to a guy at a composting loo stand. He explained males have to sit down to pee as there were two receptacles - poo got composted and pee ran into a tank I asked was the pee treated as part of the compost process he said no you can dispose of it in undergrowth vegetation which did surprise me Mick
  11. I'm looking for a boat electrics specialist who would be able to sort out some problems with Zodiak's electrics which currently (pun sort of intended but not when I typed it!) I cannot resolve. Can anyone recommend one? We moor near Uxbridge. Many Thanks Mick
