  1. The Kromhout I had was a total loss oil system (M1) The engine room always smelt of diesel/fumes. Going through a tunnel near Kings Norton ? it was particularly heavy on the lungs.
  2. They are nice.ive been on a couple. The headroom is very limited in most of the hull.
  3. I`ve looked closer and they could be transfers.
  4. Can anyone identify the painter of this?
  5. Yes I have heard of this happening. I`m not sure the rubber would survive and it could be a fire risk in the engine room. My expansion box had an inspection hatch in the bottom and I fitted a drain tap to get rid of the oily tar that built up. This wouldn't help with sooty solids though.
  6. Cougar hose and hydraulics.0121 559 8787. internal diameter was 4" or 100mm. The image you have looks similar.
  7. On the Kromhout I used 4" straight through from the expansion/scavenging box. Two things I did reduced the noise. A rubber section in the 4" pipe near to the expansion box and a longer external end pipe. I used a stove chimney.
  8. It is a national initiative. Check your local Fire service web site for any activity in your area.
  9. Week beginning 24th May is national boat safety week for the Fire service. On the 25th I will be in the area of Gas Street Basin , Birmingham offering free safety advice for things like cooking and escape plans for boat owners, including fitting free smoke alarms. If anyone would like us to come to your boat or you are passing through the area and would like this free service please let me know. Regards , Kevin.

It was Florence you did the repair on.The engine did come out shortly afrer.New owner.
  11. I agree. 20 k would seem a more realistic price. Was this moored at Stourport ?
  12. On the fuel injection side. The fittings have a taper and are brass or bronze.
  13. Could anyone recommend something to seal threads on diesel fittings? PTFE tape seems to be broken down by diesel. Cheers.

I've been on this boat, its fit out is basic but fantastic. Its a well engineered boat built by a knowledgeable owner. The engine is almost a sister to mine, brought into the UK by the same person.
  15. Seconds & co have the contract to sell Kingspan seconds .They list on E bay and do £30 delivery. Sorry its already been mentioned.
  16. Thank you Lola, I need the system reconfiguring /reconnecting following some work, The circuits are all there just want to make sure it’s done correctly.
  17. Could anyone recommend an electrician around the BCN area? Thanks.
  18. We were in the 3 Horse shoes in Frampton last week .The owners are very friendly and the food looked great.Walkable from Splat bridge or the bridge at Saul. In Frampton there is also the Bell, but I would prefer the 3 Horse shoes.
  19. I used to own a Sheffield size boat on the River Hull in Beverley. It was called the Rising Sun.Dont know if this was the original name. It had a JS 3 in that I removed (wish I still had that) I think it’s still there.

Its quite complicated but simple to rev it out of gear ,if that makes any sense ! When in neutral you cannot rev the engine as a cam reduces the revs to tickover. You can set the lever half in gear and the gearbox "paddles" the shaft, this allows you to reach a point where the revs go from tickover to full within a couple of MM adjustment. Ive cleaned the injector, numerous times, refurbished the one way valves in the supply line and cleaned the pump. The only thing I havnt altered is the spring tension on the govenor.I think Ive nothing to loose so that is next.

Ive posted a video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/Florence7245?feature=mhee You can see the engine running but Im still having trouble reving it up.If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate any help or advice. Ive had 4 " of pitch taken off the prop as when measured it was 28 x 27. so its now down to 23 inch pitch. Clements in St Neots did the work and I can strongly recomend them, very helpful.
