  1. Thanks everyone, I understand the issue much better after your help.
  2. It's a private boat and will be used as such by the new owner.
  3. I have had a good look through the BSS regs but can't find anything, but I am routinely informed that I am remarkably stupid and frequently miss the obvious. So could you please point me in the right direction? Thanks
  4. Thanks WotEver, could you please tell me where this is quoted? Thanks
  5. I am selling my boat and the buyer's surveyor has noted that there is inadequate freeboard at the bow, it should be 10" and it's 8" from the drain holes. I've been trying to find where any regulation specifies 10", I cannot find any mention of it, only that the freeboard should be adequate for the weight being carried. Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks
  6. The best moorings are on rings either side of the winding hole just north of the marina, there is a footpath leading directly to the village, otherwise the moorings opposite the marina are fine, they are a bit gloomy south of the bridge though.
  7. Stayed at the racecourse moorings last night (Friday), very noisy night with lots of people shouting, screaming and whistling until 5am, then the trains started, nobody approached the boat but it made it a bit unpleasant. I think next time we will see if the visitors moorings just before Diglis Lock are vacant. Of course, it could just be that it is freshers' week and there are a lot of students who've got the first instalment of their maintenance loan!
  8. Thanks for all the replies, very much appreciated.
  9. We are planning a trip in our 60' narrow boat to Bingley, we are attending a reunion there so we need to moor for at least 48 hours. Can anyone advise as to whether there are good moorings nearby and whether they are plentiful, we will be there mid September. I would also be interested in general comments on the L&L, travelling west, is it a busy canal and are moorings generally good? Thanks
