  1. I agree but I can't afford a new calorifier this month and so need it to last 3 months max. I think the wombles that fitted it put the fitting under strain by using plastic pipe that was trying to curl up again. Nice one blackrose I think I'll try this.
  2. Oh my gosh what to decide. I was going to go Fernox lsx let it set then pack under the flange jb weld to hold it in place so I'll get the flex of the fernox and the jb weld will keep it there. As for silver soldering I can solder pipe fittings no problem but not sure I can do this and if I loosen any more of the weld by heating it up to silver weld I could be in trouble.
  3. I know. It looks like a complete bodge job to me Silver soldering? Is that soldering with silver instead of solder? Thanks.
  4. Hi Mike Thanks for the reply. What's plumbers metal? Is it solder, I have that. Is tinning the copper, putting some solder down first on the copper tank? Whatever, Thank you very much for your time and patience, really appreciated
  5. There you go Mike. No hex on it dor. It's the top of my calorifier and it's leaking where it's soldered/braised in. Thanks you.
  6. Hi all, My calorifier is leaking where a fitting is soldered into it. Could I use milliput or would the expansion crack the seal. If I try and add more solder could I turn a weep into a torrent? I bought the boat like this and uncovered this problem. Please help. Thank you.
  7. sans allumette You're a beauty. Thank you for that. Going to order now. Thank you.
  8. Thanks dor, I've just bought the boat so I don't know how old the drive is. I'll check those tolerances. Thank you.
  9. Hi all, Please can someone help me? My thrust bearing has gone in my Python Drive P 60 - K. Midland Chandlers want £340 for a new housing and bearing but surely I can press out the old bearing and replace. I've seen past posts 2016 that an SKF bearing will do, but which one? I have this info on the bearing - v0727 Ina 15 210npp ....b or 6. Does this make sense? Thank you.
