  1. Much earlier in this post was reference to Joan II. Just before it was broken up on the River Wey some 25 years ago, I took a lot of photos of the hull and subsequently rescued the rudder, Z iron, studs and blade. It had an interesting weed hatch made in steel, double walled to create a 'skin' cooling tank!
  2. Super photos- I have B&W copies but never seen colour versions before. Two shots there of Tug No1 which I bought in 1980. The Stewarts and Lloyds lettering on Tug No1 was done on steel panels attached to the wooden cabin. I still have these panels on my workshop wall. I gleaned some info from the old hands at S&L and Matty's 1979/80 and was told the signwriting on Tug No1 dated to just before the War when she was brought back into service for the war effort to work with the 1930's Yarwood's Tugs Nos 4 & 5. I'll dig out photos of Tug No1 derelict on the bank at Matty's where I bought her. When I boated to Coombswood in 1979, Tug No2 was on the bank near the tunnel entrance, her wooden bottoms dry with large gaps between the boards. tony clark
