New problem, it seems to want to cut out when past half revs.ill replace the filters and see from there.

Gearbox works fine. Job done.

Fingrers crossed, with my luck im expecting a new project/problem if it does run right. And thanks for all the info richard

Any body had a parsons gearbox lacking oil presure failing to go into forward gear

After spending days and days testing .the piston was jamming on one side due to the barrel being pitted and the seal was not good either. So ive renewed it and had the barrel cleaned up. Im going to try it tomorow and hopefully it works

I measured the clutch plates too and they 2.3 mm

When i put the air hose to the piston direct i can hear the piston pushing on the plates,but when i apply the air to the shaft i cant hear the piston moving at all The way i have it in pic,i can hear air coming out the shaft hole whare the oil gets pumped in to push the plates, maybe its different with oil getting pu,mped in

I thought £350 for plates was rather expensive I cant seem to find any plates the same on the internet that I can compare

in the pressure release valve there was a bit dirt stopping the bearing having a good seal causing low pressure, cleaned it out and it worked fine, after a few hours its stoped working again, now ive got the gearbox out and stripped down, im not sure how much meat is supposed to be on the clutch plates. but parsons said £50 each x 7. oooofffffff, any cheaper places ???
