  2. Hi everybody We are hoping to do the Warwick ring staring from Napton junction on the 1st July. We have the boat for 10 nights and want to do it anticlockwise. where would you suggest good stopping points are. We would like a day in Gas street if that is possible. Your thoughts please
  3. hi any one know of good mooring spots on the GU canal in or around Warwick
  4. Hi everybody My partner and I are hopefully going to do the Stourport ring in the last week of May. We hope to stop in Stourbridge overnight before we tackle th River Severn (I'm ok with canals but have never done a river before!!) so wanted to get the river out of the way and moor overnight in Worcester before continuing up the Worcester and Birmingham canal. Can anybody please advise of good moorings in Worcester. I have been told that the racecourse moorings are OK but I don't particularly want to moor on the river overnight. Your help would be appreciated thanks .
  5. Hi We are doing the Stourport Ring in May this year and have hired from Napton boats at autherley junction
  6. Hi everybody We are not new to narrowboats having done the Cheshire Ring, The Four Counties Ring, The Black Country Ring and a "there and back" on the leeds and Liverpool but this year we are looking do something a little different and doing the Stourport Ring in an anti clockwise direction leaving from Napton Boats at Autherley Junction. There is just the 2 of us going and I don't think the canals will pose too much of a problem to us. My Question is "what is Narrow Boating like on the River Severn. We aim to join the river at Stourport Junction and go south to Diglis Basin. Looking at google maps the turn from the river into Diglis looks a little hairy. Am I best to go past and then come back north to the basin r can I get in from the north. Any help would be appreciated please and thanks
  7. we did it!! yes there was some long days and yes I did get a bit wet last Sunday but it was a truly amazing holiday and a truly amazing route. From sleepy Staffs countryside to the centre of urban Birmingaham and then back to Stone. Thoroughly recomend gas street basin as an overnight stop.Birmingham has really embraced the canals.
  8. Thanks for you help on this. we'll let you know how we get on
  9. We are not new to narrow boats and have had 3 canal holidays. "The Cheshire Ring", "The Four Counties Ring", and a "there and back"on the Leeds and Liverpool. These have always been done with a couple of friends but this year we are going on our own. We are stating from "The Canal Cruising Company" in Stone and hope to go south to Great Haywood, Then on to Fradley Junction, then onto Curdwoth then Gas Street Birmingham then through to Wolverhampton then back to Stone via the Staffs and Worcs and Trent and Mersey. Canal Plan says this is 95 Miles and 91 locks which is similar to the Cheshire ring. My questions are 1. Is it possible to do in a week (9th to 16 the August) with only 2 of us, and 2 is it OK to overnight in Gas Street . Your help please
