My friend just watched one of there employees throw blue gloves into the canal. I asked him why he threw them he said I don't give a shit and then he went off and hid his face before I got my camera out to identify him to his employer. Watching this made me very angry. I spoke clear to him with no swearing. Is this what they get donations for? The gloves had fuel on them as well as before he threw the blue gloves into the canal he put a container away with blue liquid in I guess after fueling a piece of Equipment. I think he's reported as he got a photo of the boat number and as there were only 2 employees around he is waiting for a reply. Anybody else had any problems with the Canal and River Trust?

Yes the tow path at Croxton has winter mooring permits alvailable there and as I live 5 minutes walk away it a perfect spot. So even if I pay £140 for 3 months winter mooring somebody else can take my spot?

If I purchase a 3 month winter permit at Croxton at Middlewich does it mean I can keep my boat there for the whole 3 months and not have to move after the normal 14 day period and I can cruise for a few days and come back to the spot I bought my Winter mooring at? The Terms and conditions on the C&RT confuse me

Croxton reopen and looks great

I bet there CRT are glad they finished as the floods have been bad today far worse than before no rain since 8 this morning and waters still rising and are 1-2 metres below road bridges over the river.

At Croxton it is. At Croxton, progress on the ground has been excellent, so much so that we are delighted that we are going to be able to reopen the canal to navigation earlier than we first thought. Tuesday 27th November the T&M reopens from Croxton to Dutton!!!!

CroxtonCroxton 19 November 2012 Well this week is a tale of good and bad news for you. First the bad news is that this is likely to be my penultimate update for the Croxton Embankment works, however we will morph the diary into one single project, update for the Dutton project below. On the flip side the good news is that the embankment works are nearly all but complete. As you can see from the photos the site has been transformed over that last few weeks and the construction team are now working on the final finishes to the works. This has included installing a new fence at the top of the embankment and beginning to lay a new section of towpath. We will be doing some work with the reeds to the offside of the canal to open up the channel width up to aid navigation round the bend in canal at this location In the coming week we hope to complete these finishing works and begin the task of removing the clay bund we have across the canal. With all this in mind we are really confident that we will be able to open this section of the canal up at the beginning of December as we expected a few weeks ago.

9 November 2012 Project manager Paul Brown gives us the latest information about the Croxton and Dutton repairs: CroxtonCroxton repairs, 9 November Again it’s another week of great progress and the end is almost within our sight. This week has seen the concrete works mentioned last week almost all completed. The specialist ‘Enkamat’ covering has also been installed which, at the moment, looks like it resembles some kind of lunar landscape. However, raking topsoil over this area this will really improve the appearance and finish off the slope works. The Enkamat was selected as it is Croxton, 9 Novemberdesigned so that vegetation can grow and pierce through the matting and look very much like the original embankment. Over the next week we are looking at completing the works on the embankment. We'll start on finishing works to the towpath and carrying out any odd jobs that around the site that all combine to complete the work. I am pleased to say that we will definitely be opening the canal at Croxton in early December which will re-open the canal up to the Dutton site.

CroxtonCroxton 02.11 Works on the embankment have continued at a brisk pace with the entire project starting to look more like a finished embankment day on day. After last week’s installation of the Stone Foundations, the Embankment has been rebuilt almost back to the top of the original Crest. Concrete works have begun to the top of the canal wash wall, and are also going well. This is part of the end design these are to increase the height of the crest of the embankment, and also the free board. This will eradicate the low point on the wash wall and reduce the chance of the canal over topping again at this point. At the time of writing the embankment is being top soiled ready to receive its specialist ‘Enkamat’ Covering and protection mentioned in last weeks diary. Progress has been going well and with a review of the programme with the current rate of progress we are now confident to report, weather permitting, that we will look to reopen this section of the canal at the start of December.
