  1. Recently I have considered changing the domestic batteries on my boat, and looking at new technology, lithium iron has a distinct advantage. If you have a 400 AMPH lead acid battery bank you only get to use 200AMPS because lead acid don't like giving you more than 50% of capacity lead acid will give warning that there voltage is dropping, and the longer you run them the more you damage them. lead acid needs to be kept fully charged when not in use. I must I have nurtured my batteries because I have got 10 years out of them. 400 AMPH lithium iron battery bank will give you 400AMPS but then they are flat no warning but it does not damage them the only problem is they are expensive has anyone found a good supply yet
  2. had to make them myself, to buy ready made to carry this kind of weight was to expensive, my wheels were fabricated steel and cost nothing but my time, the expence was the solid polyurethane tyres done by a company in birmingham cost £400 the most expensive bit of the whole job
  3. the finished job did look good, but zinga black looks grey and i have never asked them why i don't mind
  4. when you use zinga the whole boat hull becomes a large magnesium anode, and marine life don't stick to it
  5. the wheels were a challenge got to carry a lot of weight they carry my 50 ft and a friends 55ft showing no stress 4 at the back do the job
  6. i made the wheels for our slip and i did not want them outside the trailer it makes it more difficult to remove when boat is on sleepers
  7. i am not fashion conscious, anyway i am not under the hat no a warco piece of rubish but it does the job for me
  8. i think the zinga black is very good and hard all the knocks in 11 years have never gone through to the steel with zinga i have never had to use anodes in 11 years
  9. the bearings are sealed, the length is about 20 ft shortest, 70 ft longest back of trailer only sinks 30inches and is suspended in the water by two float tanks
  10. this is a narrowboat launch trailer i made two years ago it will carry 16 tons, with turn table front stearing very maneuverable, it has also got a hydraulic lift system so you can jack up your boat chock it up and pull the trailer out to be use again. the boat can be worked on without tying up the trailer.this has been very usefull tell me what you think Robby

    Oh dear

there are men who became boatmen out of necessity, and there are men who became boatmen out choice, which are you, and is one more a boatman than the other ?
  12. the most expensive part is the shot blasting, it needs to be done to zinger's spec by a good company, my 50ft narrow boat 10 years ago the total cost £500 for blasting that was two men on site for 8 hours, but i have no idea what it would cost today, and i hope i do not have find out, the rest of it is up to you if you can paint you can do it and it is easier than blacking, but when it is done what ever it costs you can add it to the sale price of your boat and it will help you sell.
  13. the problem starts with the steel and the fact that we dont have time to do things properly anymore. years ago boats were put outside to allow the mill scale to come off that is the coating on the steel when new, this hard scale comes off with time and when you have blacked over it your black comes of with it, usually at the water line, were water meets the air, so shot blasting removes the mill scale, and within an hour a Zinga coat is applied to stop it rusting because over night you will have a coat of rust on your boat. Zinga is very easy to apply, a 5lt can is heavy, the Zinga black is not as black as bitumen but a nice dark grey and a real nice finish, the Zinga rep will give advise .
