  1. Thank you, we were looking at 10 metre lengths, would this be considered adequate?
  2. Hi all Can I ask your opinions on which rope to get for a 57ft narrowboat, is 14mm sufficient? Or would 16mm be better? And is 10m long enough? Thank you in advance
  3. As regards to mooring a 57 ft narrowboat, would you recommend 14mm or 16mm rope? TIA
  4. Hi everyone, now this may not be everybody's cup of tea but as our boat build seems to be taking forever, I have come across this book to keep me amused and to give me the perfect excuse to go to the canalside.... It's the boaters equivalent to trainspotting.... it's a book that contains all the registration numbers of the Boats of UK Inland Waterways..... Now by no means am I a "trainspotter" but this book has brought so much fun so far, it's so interesting marking off the boats that I have seen although I doubt I will ever see all 36,000 plus of them! Just thought I would mention it, in case there are any of you out there that this may be of interest to? :-D ETA.. for those who may be interested, its produced by ST Publications and available through their website - stpublications.co.uk
  5. Awww I'm so glad to hear you had a fab time and it all went well, I bet you can't wait to go out on her again. Look forward to seeing some pics when you get chance! Me too, but got a few more weeks than you . So frustrating but I'm sure it will be worth the wait
  6. Congratulations,I bet you cant wait! Hope you have many a happy time on her.... Ours is mid-build, the shell is finished, we are just waiting for them to fit-out etc. Time seems to be dragging,it's so exciting and so frustrating at the same time IYKWIM. Ah well, I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end. Happy cruising and roll on Wednesday
  7. oops.... I'll get my coat My sentiments exactly
  8. Yep, we have the small bedroom full of boxes of stuff and it has now overspilled downstairs into the living room The leather recliner chairs have come in huge boxes so we didn't bother to attempt to find room upstairs, they just got "parked" in the living room, but the boxes are breeding I'm like you, the longer it has gone on, the more stuff I am buying... I now have double on quite a few things as I have seen nicer things since I bought the 1st lot... I know it won't all go on the boat but it has got to be sorted through just before the big day Anyway, good luck and look forward to seeing some pics of your boat once you're finally settled in
  9. I can fully understand how you feel, we are in a similar postition at the moment... our newbuild shell is finished and waiting to be moved to be fitted out. It's been finished over 3 weeks now and we are still waiting. I know it's normal procedure in the boating world and things don't move fast but when you're sooooo excited and like you, want to do the girly thing and put all my nice new stuff in it, it's sooo frustrating . On the plus side, at least you are fotunate to be the proud owners of a boat and only now have to wait 3 weeks, which isn't too long when you think how long some other people are waiting Just try to keep yourself busy ( I know easier said than done) and hopefully the next few weeks will pass quite quickly for you
  10. This makes interesting reading as I have started to look around for Insurance quotes ready for our boat's arrival in a couple of months. Nobody has mentioned Towergate yet? I obtained a very reasonable quote from them over the phone, which incidentally was far lower than their online quote . Does anybody have any good or bad experiences with them? TIA
  11. This is great reading and I hope to be able to add to this list when our boat arrives end July/ August
  12. Lovely boat! Congratulations and enjoy!
