  1. The man in question has always worked on my engine (JP2) and has been bloody brilliant, including coming to my rescue when breaking down at the bottom lock of Audlem in a blizzard within half an hour of calling him. I know a hell of a lot of people that will only use him because he knows his stuff, is sensibly priced and is an all round absolutely lovely guy that wouldn't hurt a fly. I suggest you don't go shaming him in this way (it's quite obvious who you're talking about) when he does not have a chance to defend himself. As previously mentioned, there are always two sides of the story and as it is we are getting it second hand. Don't believe everything you read people, because for this one story, I could name a hell of a lot more people who would do nothing but sing his praises

Depends on how many hours a day you are prepared to do, and the tide times (dont forget you are on a Tidal river) Probably allow 4 days Lincoln to Cromwell lock Cromwell lock to Gunthorpe Gunthorpe to Meadow Lane (ish) / Beeston Meadow Lane to Shardlow Strongly recommended - LIFE JACKETS and SUITABLE SIZED ANCHOR

  7. There was plenty of crap music around in the past just as there is plenty of good and creative modern music. If you are only hearing crap you are probably listening to the wrong radio stations.

  8. Were Elvis, Cliff, Little Richard and many more not marketed with an image which was not their real persona, the motive for so doing being profit? PS I too think that rap should usually be prefaced by a "c".

  10. Haha! I am going to start a blog for starters... And see where that takes me! It has been one hell of an adventure so far!! No big regrets really.. And I can honestly say that the amazing warmth shown on this thread has almost made the whole thing worthwhile! Glad to be a boater, and to have met so many of you too, and especially glad to have a boat that is now above the waterline... Mxxx

  13. I'm not sure what you mean by that? I was not questioning your story, merely pointing out that one person's version of events, particularly a new poster on here, was not a proper basis for 'naming and shaming'. Tim

  14. Hey Marcus, got everything crossed for you, hard to walk like this though. Hope to hear good news tomorrow and look forward to any pics or videos. Hope your independence debate goes well and that the yes side wins! Just don't blow any new holes in it with that powerwash thingy! Gently Bentley with the old girl! Hosepipe and a brush and a good wet & dry vac, or the zombie mullet army will come and get you!

  15. Fortunata, you have really missed the bus on this one. Perhaps instead of spending weeks composing articles on out of date electrical devices and discussing the minutiae of their workings, you had read some of the interesting and up to date information on this wonderful forum, you might be there already.

  22. Sorry yes the Harborough. Ex hire is good, they're usually well made and set up to be easy to maintain it's not in a hire boat companies best interest to use anything that will give them problems and a lot are blacked every year, I'd happily buy an ex hire boat (but not an ex hire car). If this boat didn't have a GRP roof I bet it would be 4-5K more. K
