  1. Perhaps he is standing on his boat and is having a very bad day......

  2. Am I the only one who doesn't understand why people are getting upset about this? The CCers have been there for years and now CRT have come up with a scheme to finally get some mooring fees from them, while giving them some sort of transitional status. And now some legitimate moorers (assuming they are legitimate and not bending the rules themselves by living on non-residential moorings), become apoplectic with rage about what's happened? Personally I've never got pissed off because I'm paying for a mooring while someone else isn't because whether someone else moves their boat or not is irrelevant when it comes to my mooring. So would those who feel angry prefer it if these people continued to flout the CCing rules without paying anything to moor as they have been for years, or should CRT at least get some mooring fees from them? If we're being realistic then those are the options and either way it shouldn't make any difference to those who've always paid for a mooring. They will remain unaffected - apart from their fluctuating levels of envy and anger.

  3. Maybe it's you though? If you've observed that as soon as you've gone past, they greet and talk to other people. Maybe something you are doing is making them miserable, and they wish that you would just sell up and go and live in a house, cos they like their online or marina moorings just fine. If you react to them in real life with the same tone and attitude as you've posted this thread with, then I get their point. Perhaps they live on a stretch where 100 or so boats a day come past, in which case yes, you probably are invisible to them. People who live aboard also need to actually get on with their lives in between entertaining the passing boats, so they may find it almost impossible to make a point of saying hello to every passing boat! People are entitled to live their lives how they please, and that does not mean that they are obliged to greet and chat to you, for whatever reason.

  4. I'm all for a bit of fun so go for it folks and I hope the weather is kind. Why can't we have some of this in Brum too,I'd be up for it. Partycat mode always available, should be the default setting really. Ps I'm quite old but carnt be arsed to moan about youth, envy is so negative. Weils disease is a risk but so is riding a push bike in traffic,we all go with the risks we find acceptable.

  6. If you talk about having fun on the water in Amsterdam, with many more things happening than on Queens day, you should watch some of the video's of the Gay Pride happening there, here's just a short one, but there are many more, and much longer ones too. Peter.

  7. Well " guess what, I renewed my licence this month(well two months ago) and had no problem whatsoever'. The license arrived within a few days. But I did get a text reminder a few days later to renew. Then I got a written reminder to renew. I ignored both thinking, wires crossed somewhere. Then I got another reminder! So I phoned them. No problem said the woman on the other end of phone, I'll take you off the reminder list. Thanks I said. By the way I said you do know I cruise continually? 9. Sorry, while I'm all for fun, I have to admit that my big concern here, seeing the photo from last year, would be Weil's Disease. But then, I'm clearly old.

  12. Probably well worth a trawl of previous posts using the forum search, then ask more questions Some thinks to look into are: Use of stranded cable instead of twin and earth, and why to use ferrules on the stranded cable ends. Fitting a galvanic isolator, possibly with status monitor, for shoreline installations. Why a ring main isn't likely to be essential on a boat. If you do end up doing it yourself it'd be well worth getting a registered spark or someone similarly competent to check it all over before you use it. Maybe best to get a decent basic shoreline install first then look at doing a proper install of the inverter later on. cheers, Pete. ~smpt~

  13. Jenlyn, You and CUB can get the best deal you can with C&RT good for you. As far as I'm concerned if you get a good deal you're doing better than I have all these years of paying full price moorings. I get rubbish service from C&RT who are unable to even remove a temporary fence after 4 weeks. They are probably too busy attending meetings with CUB. I am not against any other boater, I just want to be left alone to live my life in peace and that's the end of it. I hope you and your group get the message and leave me alone and understand I am not against you or CUB or anyone else. I just want to be left in peace.

  14. Given your post above and others it strikes me you've got a bad attitude and go looking for trouble. Most of us respond to courtesy with courtesy and awkwardness with awkwardness I don't have a driving instructors qualification but I've held a completely clean licence for 40 years and passed the IAM motorcycle test. I drive and cycle equally (currently about 5000 miles/year for both) so I experienced both sides. - And I've got a dog. Most of the dangerous, illegal and inconsiderate behavoir I see on foot, cycle or driving is by motorists. eg. A flashing speed readout/slowdown sign in a residential road near me is activated by about 50% of the traffic and the large numbers of cars parked illegally blocking pavements didn't drive themselves there. When did you last cycle? I think you need to spend some time cycling in today's traffic and you might find a few twats and idiots (your terms) that aren't on bikes. (silly or otherwise)
